My review of the awesome No.1 F7 Rugged Smartwatch
One of the most awesome trends in my humble opinion is that of the rugged smartphone. That’s why I loved stepping outside my usual ways for my review of the awesome No.1 F7 rugged smartwatch!
First of all I love the logic of building a smartwatch with rugged features. It makes sense. Imagine having a rugged phone and still having to panic about your smartwatch. The No.1 F7 makes it unnescessary to panic. This great looking smartwatch comes packed with IP67 rating, with 24 hour heart rate monitoring and it runs on the NRF52832 processor known to be fast and with low power consumption.
One thing I really love about the F7 is the fact that it looks like an actual watch. Unfortunately too many manufacturers out there still think a smartwatch must look like a mini-screen strapped to your wrist. As soon as you take the F7 out of the box, you will know for certain: This thing is shockproof! What surprised me was its weight. In fact it’s not heavy at all, and it’s not a burden to wear. In fact, it was so light that I couldn’t help throwing the F7 on the floor right away to see if it was indeed shockproof. Still not convinced about the strenghth of my wooden floor I even repeated the test on the concrete outside: Same result: Nothing to see, no damage at all!
So the shockproof-part was sorta proven. Next thing that I thought would be funny is to test it’s dustproof-rating. And lucky as I am there are two big sand hills from construction work, right behind my house. So I burried the No.1 F7 in there for a while, just to find it working just as nicely as it did before. So, that being said and done the only thing left was test its waterproof capabilities. Living on an island makes water relatively easy to come by, so that was a piece of cake.
And ofcourse we all know it also survived the water as well, as this would be quite a different piece of writing if it hadn’t. But a picture says more than a 1000 words they say, so imagine how many words I’m saving by simply showing you the video 😉 Besides who doesn’t love a video of cool looking tech being trown in the water? Well: Here you go!
Well, it’s a proven fact, the No.1 F7 is indeed a rugged smartwatch in every sense of the word. And looking at the options and functions one could conclude the F7 is really made for those enyoing the outdoor lifestyle. It has an altitude sensor built in telling you exactly the highth your moving around on. It even has stand alone GPS! Okay, it takes a couple of minutes to get a fix, but in all fairness I have seen much more powerfull smartphones take longer. It features settings for running, monitoring steps, calorie and distance, trajectory, speed. Multi-mode includes monitoring options for climbing, hiking, basketball, football, badminton and biking.
So yes, i must say I am positively impressed with the features and handeling of the No.1 F7, however there was one little thing that I would describe as a little minus: The choice of amoled for an outdoor smartwatch is questionable, because all those fantastic features have one thing in common: They need a screen to be useful And sometimes the readability of the F7′s display is not the best, especially in bright sunlight. The absolute plus however is the batterylife and the awesome magnetic charging technology. Yes that’s right you don’t need to plug your F7 into something to have it charging. You simply click the magnetic charger to the backside of the watch and that’s it. And it works like a charm. I wish phone manufacturers would take a closer look at this!
All in all I would say the No1 F7 is a great rugged smartwatch and cool to use . I rate it 8/10.
