Mobile World Congress 2018 News: Nubia Z17s
The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the single most important gathering about mobile technology in the West. Each year manufacturers from all over the world showcase their newest devices and developments here. Every day this week we will take a look at some of these new smartphones. Keep in mind that not all of them are available yet, but are just being introduced. It might take some months before you will actually to buy them in stores or order them online.
Of course the MWC 2018 got a lot of press since Samsung used it to introduce their newest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S9. Next to the most famous brands there are also a lot of Chinese smartphone makers on the Congress. And what they have to offer is anything but boring:
The brand Nubia (a division of ZTE, more about them later) is known for their Z-line and more recently the gorgeous Nubia M2. This time they bring their newest flagship, the Nubia Z17S and mid-range version, the Z mini S to the table. The Nubia Z17 is a 6 or 8GB RAM / 128 or 64GB ROM flagship that sports a true edge to edge 5.7″ display. It runs on the SD835. This powerful octa core (4×2.45 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo) Snapdragon chipset. Now the camera’s on the Z17S should be able to shoot the perfect pictures looking at the specs.
Dual Camera 12 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.55″, 1.4 µm, Dual Pixel PDAF) + 23 MP (f/2.0) phase detection autofocus, 2x lossless zoom, dual-LED dual-tone flash. And on the front it sports an 16 and a 5 MP Dual Camera.
Now the Nubia Z17 mini S is al slightly different looking phone, that also comes with an edge-to-edge screen that is slightly smaller with it’s 5.2″. Multitasking won’t be an issue with the 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 653
octa core processor (4×1.95 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4×1.4 GHz Cortex-A53). The 64GB internal storage seem to become the new standard and are sufficient for everyday use. In the camera department the Z17 mini S does also look attractive. After all a Dual Camera with 2 x 13 MP (f/2.2, 1/3″, 1.12 µm), phase detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash isn’t bad at all. Instead of the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Z17s, the mini S uses a home button scanner. Both devices are gorgeous.
Now the good news is the Nubia Z17 mini S is already available out there and you can look here to order. The Z17S will be available anytime soon now and ofcourse we’ll keep you posted.
